Mood Board: Dining Room Series / Wallpaper

There are many ways to begin designing a room for a client. I usually start with determining the background dependent on the style & size of the room, entry into the room, location of the windows, height of ceiling, and other details that exist in the room such as crown moulding, or wainscot. For the next few Mood Boards I am going to provide inspiration for an Elegant Neutral Dining Room, starting with this first set of 3 wallscapes below. I always like begin with selecting the wallcovering details to create the ambiance of the room. I always begin working on a room with the background wallcovering treatment to achieve inspiration and transform the room from there.

Wallcoverings come in many forms - wallpaper, wall murals, wainscoting, faux and real textures such as stone, paint treatments etc. In this scenario I have selected a custom wainscot pattern rather than the traditional shaker style wainscot. This style adds interest with the curve in each corner versus a traditional shaker style wainscot. If you would like to see this style of wainscot in a real home, check out the “French Provincial” home under “Projects - Residential” on my website. In this home’s Foyer we added the custom wainscot with curved corners running up the stairwell.

One of my favourite wallpaper companies to select wallpaper from is www.cole-and-son.com

Another source I have access to is www.lookwalls.com
